Welcome to 2023!

2022 was a busy year and set the foundation for an exciting 2023. During this transitional time, a 50% changeover in Councillors now includes more female representation.

I would like to introduce to you, your new Ward 1 City Councillor, Lisa Robinson, who will be working alongside me as two powerful voices representing all the Ward 1 residents.

Lisa is a long-standing resident of Pickering who resides in Ward 1 and believes in grassroots government. She is a licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario and advocates for her community first. Please reach out to Lisa and subscribe to her eNewsletter here[Editor: The subscription suggestion made here links you to the City of Pickering newsletter, not a personal letter from Councillor Robinson.]

As a continuing member of the Pickering Council, I am honoured to have been appointed as Deputy Mayor of the City of Pickering. My appointment to the Pickering Public Library Board will also continue as Vice Chair, and I will also sit on the Vehicle for Hire Advisory Committee.

In my new role as your Regional Councillor, in addition to my city duties, I will take your voice to Durham Region Council and I look forward to my new appointments on the following Regional Committees: Health and Social Services Committee, Chair of Durham Advisory Committee on Homelessness, Durham Region Transit Executive Committee, member of Durham Region Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan Steering Committee, and Durham Region Roundtable on Climate Change.

May I take this opportunity of wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year.

Maurice Brenner
Regional Councillor, Ward 1
