Have you always wanted to drive a Porsche? You can do so right in Pickering.
Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd., importer and distributor for the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart, has opened its Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) Toronto, located on Porsche Drive in Pickering.
PEC Toronto is the 10th of its kind worldwide and the third in North America —Atlanta and Los Angeles are the two U.S. locations.
The centre provides enthusiasts a chance to experience vehicle dynamics, technology and emotion first-hand with expert guidance from trained staff.
Trevor Arthur, president and CEO of Porsche Cars Canada, said the opening marks an important milestone.
“We are delighted to be able to share the excitement with our fans by providing them with an ability to experience this exceptional facility, which will be the first for a carmaker in Canada and will create some 65 local jobs,” he said in a news release.
The two-kilometre circuit incorporates several elements inspired by iconic racetrack sections from around the world. From the handling circuit to the low-friction drift circle, instructor-led driving modules are designed to demonstrate the engineering and capabilities of Porsche vehicles.
The Carrera Café or the Porsche Lifestyle Shop features apparel, accessories, model cars and more on the main level. The PEC Toronto also has a fitting lounge, featuring extensive customization options.
Soon, a dedicated space will have five cutting-edge driving simulators. Behind the wheel of a virtual Porsche, drivers will be able to race against themselves or someone else on racetracks from around the world.
The building features Canadian touches such as Quebec wood lamellas adorning the exterior walls and a Porsche-commissioned, 23-foot-tall, art installation at the site entrance.
There are plenty of perks for Porsche owners as well, including a 90-minute session at the PEC with the purchase of a new car.
PEC Toronto operates Wednesday to Sunday, year-round.
A broad selection of the brand’s latest two- and four-door sports cars is available and demo laps start at $140, while 90-minute experiences partnered with a Porsche instructor begin at $850. Experiences for groups are available and pricing depends on the number of participants.
