About Michael
Michael Samlalsingh was born in Montreal and moved to Ontario at the age of three. His family has called Pickering home for nearly four decades.
Michael is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and holds an MBA, with more than 25 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector.
During his career, Michael worked in finance, business planning and technology-related financial management. He has been responsible for managing and overseeing budgets of approximately $500 million.
That responsibility involved much more than reviewing numbers. His work included:
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Business cases and financial analysis
- Procurement and purchasing
- Contract negotiations
- Vendor and contractor management
- Capital and operating expenditures
- Identifying efficiencies and managing costs
- Financial reporting and communicating complex financial information
- Working with senior leaders to make informed investment decisions
Michael also brings experience as the founder of MM Financial Solutions Professional Corporation, where he provides accounting, tax and financial advisory services.
His interest in municipal government comes from seeing how financial decisions affect people and communities.
