The world is in a mess and it’s really bothering me…

I just finished reading two George Orwell books, 1984 and Animal Farm, and now as I watch the news, my mind buzzes and whirls with stressful and worrisome thoughts.
Orwell was prescient in his predictions in “1984,” written in 1943-44. He wrote a story that told of the new world that was coming 40 years hence, a world of autocratic rule by a hierarchy of powerful and dominant leaders. Democracy was dead. In fact, it was removed from all living memory as if it never existed. The same for any and all things associated with the freedoms of the world we lived in decades before. No more free speech. No more free association. No more freedom of movement and on and on. Even the language was restricted and regulated in such a way that nothing associated with the previous unregulated world was permitted in the new vocabulary. In fact, the new language was contradictory to the old, newspeak vs oldspeak. Hence, freedom = slavery, black = white, dark = light and so on. Truth became constant lies. Facts were altered to suit the new autocratic world.
The new world was worse in more than language. It was a world of surveillance and privacy invasion, the leaders, led by Big Brother, controlled, regulated and scrutinized everyone with television monitoring systems everywhere watching everyone constantly. We call those CCTV in our world today, ‘closed circuit TV.’ A single word of rebellion or criticism and the person was removed from society and erased from all social-historical records as never having existed.
As I watch the news today, I fear we are tumbling down into that world of 1984 faster than a snowball rolling down a steep ski slope. Truth is questionable in every news broadcast. Words spoken by world leaders are tainted with doubt of veracity and validity. The leader of the USA leads the world into this abyss of lies, falsehoods and deceit. Worse, increasingly we accept the world as it becomes more unacceptable and eroded.
Gaza and Israel
Such conflicts should be condemned, criticized and not be accepted anywhere. Yet the Palestinians are being bombarded daily, ceaselessly. Foreign aid, food and medical supplies blocked entry at the borders.
War in Ukraine
Again, a war that should never been allowed, that never should be viewed as tolerable or acceptable is now into over 3 years. Worse, the negotiators at a possible peace negotiations include Russia, the USA, France, the UK but UKRAINE IS NOT AT THE TABLE. Worse, the world is tiring of hearing about the war. Ukraine is doomed.
American world Aid
The USA once aided the world with financial support, medical and research suppoort, food and medical aid support. Now, poof. T**** has cancelled all aid, unemployed all agencies’ staff and shut the spigot of aid to the world.
American medical research
Again, employees have been terminated and research into disease, maladies, viruses plaguing the USA and the world has stopped. Measles eradicated decades ago, in on the rise in the USA and also in Canada. The US Secretary of Health, Robert Kennedy, rejects all inoculation and antivirus injections as bogus and hoaxes, launching policies to discourage vaccination and inoculation.
Diplomacy discardable
Gone are the days of diplomacy and consular etiquette. T**** has opened to the door diplomatic denigration and humiliation, viz his recent meeting with Ukrainian leader Zelinsky. That was bad enough, but now other leaders are jumping on his bandwagon of Canada being the 51st state, Trudeau being called governor rather than properly. PM Starmer of the UK talks about Canada as if it were a non-entity. Remember T**** pushing another world leader aside in a photo opp, like teens pushing for a better place in line.

Orwell’s Animal Farm is a tale of the animals on a farm rebelling against the human farmer and establishing their independence only to see that animal world decay, disintegrate and degenerate into a world led by a dictator with autocratic cronies and a cohort of aggressive bullies to keep others in line. T**** is working in that manner with his Immigration Control and Enforcement agency (ICE). Deportations without legal question or support. Outright violation of constitutional safeguards.
Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security at risk
T**** has agencies such as the FBI led by his cronies who are to weed out non -supporters of the “king.” Already, the committee members investigating the resurrectionists attacking the US capitol are labelled as non T**** supporters. The pardons/safeguards Biden gave to those committee members have been removed by T**** with the declaration that they were not binding because they were signed by autopens.
DOGE, Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk of Tesla and Paypal connections, is cutting federal employees from their jobs. Musk is determined to save more as he cuts federal employees and T**** shuts down agencies. T**** has decreased funding of the American Meat Regulation agency and the same to the poultry agency. The resulting impacts, meat production reduction, millions and millions of chickens slaughtered for fear of avian flu. What do you think will be the effect on meat production? The cost of eggs? Do you think Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are safe….don’t put money on it.
The more news I watch, the worse the state of the world looks. But you have to stay informed just as you have to speak out where you might influence defence or protection. The wacko in the AmeriKan White House dreams up new calamities nightly. Tariffs were initial launches but they will be reciprocated internationally with other countries launching counter tariffs. None of the resulting repercussions will be felt by the elite such as T**** and his cronies or the elite of any country for that matter. It will be the average citizen, the ‘prol’ in Orwell’s words, who will suffer the consequences. Just a few weeks and your family food shopper will announce the disastrous increases in food prices, some foods will be off the table because of their price increases.
I don’t know where the world is heading. I do know I am worried, stressed and becoming depressed at what I am seeing daily and nightly.
