I’m not so sure anymore.
My website is changing its position. Being a conservative, speaking out in favour of conservative positions has done nothing for my web site. Asking for support has gotten me no where as the conservatives out there are passive and apathetic. Those people are part of the ‘old politicians’ faction, the politicians who have succeeded in doing nothing positive or concrete to improve life for most of us. I still pay high prices, climbing higher each weak; soaring in fact; food bank use is setting records monthly; homeless numbers grow relentlessly. Another election, and likely we are stuck with the same kind of politicians that got us here from the past.
My site gets tenuous support from these kinds of people, shaky, stuck in their old ways and not willing to become active in anything except whining and criticizing. I must be appealing to the wrong people because these people do not seem to be very active about anything, politics, health, editorial commentary. More importantly, where Canadian authors, writers, creators, and commentators struggle to be heard and supported, these people sit in muted chairs saying nothing to give active support to people who deserve it and should get it.
I’m appealing to the wrong crowd. Maybe T**** is the type that I should join. He’s less iconoclastic and nihilistic than people claim. He wants change and he is shaking the political world to affect this change. He is fed up with the old guard, the old political world, the old ways. He may be right. Those ‘old’ bring no change. Rather they consolidate and continue the same old, the same world. Well, I am joining his ranks. I acknowledge his is all the negative claims made against him. However, I ask what all the angelic elders opposing him have achieved?
I often lament about the single mother with a low paying job suffering in some hovel of a home. To no avail. Her life doesn’t change. New election, new government, same situation. She continues her struggle. Don’t go asking me what can be done for her. A lot, better salary, assistance with rent, better regulation of prices with retailers. Don’t go giving me, ‘it can’t be done’…it’s not being done. The ‘swamp’ continues.
T**** may lie like a rug, so what’s your point. We all know it. Maybe he’s trying to shake the bush. The ‘honest, truthful politicians’ we have elected do nothing, achieve nothing, change nothing, end up running like hell to end up in the same place they were. Thank you very much. What do you want me to say….Carney deserves a chance? Poilievre deserved a chance? Bull sh*t deserves a chance too. The old guard did nothing to shift our world into a better place. You think these new people are going to change anything? Believe that and I have some prime swamp land for sale for you.
It’s time for ME to change. For years I have looked to the old guard, the stalwarts, the sensible conservatives for support. Asked them, pleaded for, and urged them for support. I must be a nobody, not worth the time of day, definitely not worth their time of day. Given that situation, I see no reason to continually support their faction, their side. They prefer that side and won’t make a move to give any support to one who promotes their cause. I must be the enemy, so why remain on that side of the fence. Ergo, time to move away from that side.
Not looking for a rebuttal. A rebuttal from a side that is passive, apathetic and supportive of a static swamp world doesnt interest me.
