TorStar: Althia Raj’s 3 part federal election story deserves awardsreport on the federal election

Toronto Star columnist Althia Raj has written a superb 3 part report on the recent Canadian federal election. She deserves an award for outstanding journalism.

I have only read the recent part 2 which takes up 6 whole pages of the Toronto Star but it should given the comprehensive and deep analysis of the report. It is an example of outstanding journalism one hopes the Star produces. Raj has risen to the pinnacle of political analysis and journalistic  excellence.

This article is a meticulous and detailed examination, analysis and description of the election campaign. Raj examines the logic behind the Liberal and Conservative campaign strategies. She evaluates the work done by campaign strategist of both parties, where they succeeded and where they dropped the ball. She covers the issues thoroughly examining them in their grass root ridings explaining what should have happened as well as the reasons why things happened as they did.

She weaves this journalistic tapestry with threads from Poilievre political facets, Carney’s economic and intellectual arsenal and the influence and impact and repercussions of T**** at various point during the campaign. The piece is superbly written as well, engaging, informative and attention-holding throughout the entire article. She covers all the bases, no holds barred, as she lays out the numbers, sometimes bitter, describing how the election developed and unfolded.

Raj deserves all the accolades and plaudits she may receive for this outstanding piece of journalism. However, one must credit some behind the scenes work, namely by staff researcher Ryan Tumilty for the detail and minutia in the article. Such tremendous background work likely needs the contribution of more than just one person.

Great writing…I look forward to part 3.
