EDITORIAL: G7 KANANASKIS – Carney’s invitation is too open, too broad

Shri Narendra Modi and Donald psycho T**** have been wrongly invited to the G7 Kananaskis Conference.

Modi’s government has been under investigation for the murder of a Sikh leader in British Columbia a couple of years ago. The RCMP in its continuing investigations is finding clear evidence that the Indian government has meddled and interfered in Canadian election campaigns. The RCMP has declared that the Indian government is guilty of these accusations.

T**** is a convicted felon, 37 convictions. Canada has laws that forbid convicted felons from entering Canada. So much for a law when it comes to T****. This will be another podium for T****. He will take every media moment to promote his agendas, his warping of the news, his lying and denigration of the news. T**** should not even be allowed into the country.

Prime Minister Carney’s thinking is very questionable in these instances. Modi is leader of a government that has been accused of meddling in Canadian political affairs and murdering a Sikh leader on Canadian soil. What is Carney thinking of when he extends an invitation to this man?

Prime Minister Carney has chosen to ignore Canadian law which forbids entry of convicted felons into Canada. T**** has been found guilty in 37 felonies. Found guilty! Worse, T**** is a proven provocateur, continually denigrating legitimate news, calling valid news as ‘fake news,’ and continuing to claim his election loss or lower vote numbers were caused by the fake news supporters and the fake news media itself. The man lies, denigrates, degrades, offends and insults continually. Yet, he has been given an invitation to Kananaskis. What is Carney thinking of when he extends an invitation to this man?

Carney may be very intelligent and doing many things right but in these instances his thinking has taken a wrong turn. Carney may be thinking as a diplomat, offering these invitations as diplomatic courtesy. Modi is not even a G7 member. Broad diplomacy may be a good thing. Inviting everyone to this kind of conference may mean opening a door to broad discussions with many nations. However, extending these invitations to such despicable or undesirables is taking diplomacy too far. A line of principles and ethical standards should be drawn and the world should be shown we abide by such standards. To allow these invitations to be extended shows that Canada’s commitment to moral and ethical standards is weaker than it should be. We will be seen as hypocrites. What do you think?
