FERMO’s DESK: new puppy coming

Our beloved Fermo passed away in March. Our home has an emptiness now. That emptiness will be changed with a new puppy this spring. A mini Schnauser, with no name yet.

We chose a different breed than a Scottie because another Scottie would have been a painful reminder of the loss of Fermo. Hence, another terrier but a mini Schnauser.

Terriers
Terriers are a wonderful breed of dog. Lively, energetic, loyal and very intelligent. Along with that that intelligence comes an independence streak, some would call stubborness. When a terrier doesn’t feel like doing it, it won’t be done. You might get lucky with treats, lots of cajoling and gentle insistance…maybe.

But terriers will give your family home love, loyalty and lots of life. They are energetic and lively, a handful that needs training and dedication. In return, they will bring an incredible spirit of joy and happiness to your home. Everywhere you go, the terrier is likely on your heels. Someone comes to your door, the terrier’s bark notication is heard before any doorbell rings. Strangers visiting? They will be sniffed and ‘nose-tested’ and  once they pass the nose -test, they not be bothered by the dog. Walks, no hesitation. Ask to go on a walk, and poof, a terrier might even bring his leash to the door.

Our breeder, Love Angels
Breeders can be far away but long distance shipment of a puppy seems unappropriate and likely very stressful. Therefore, one of our criteria for puppy selection besides “home-like” raising/breeding, was that the breeder be local, driving distance away. Our Scottie was comfortably driven to his new home sitting on my lap on a blanket and able to look around as we drove. He was calm, quiet and comfortable the whole trip. Our new pup will have the same kind of trip.

A NAME?
“FERMO” was an unusual name, spontaneously created by Nadia while on an ‘imaginary walk’ but the name is too special to be used again. So we need a name for our new pup, something warm and affectionate sounding but also unique. We would love to hear your ideas for a name. Can you help us with name suggestions?
