Recently, Councillor Lisa Robinson supported a fund raiser for the Pickering Animal Shelter by being the target in a “dunking tank’ event.
Those who saw the event may criticize Robinson, saying she is bringing in a level of unprofessionalism to the campaign for mayor.
On the other hand, others may see this is Councillor Robinson just having some fun, being a good sport and supporting a community cause.
I am in the latter camp.
I disagree with Robinson often on many issues but I like her for her determination, her dedication and her perseverance. She has stuck to her goals through thick and thin. Cut from live Council, she’s still around. Docked her salary as Councillor for months, she’s still around. Criticized and chastised by the Mayor and other Councillors, she’s still around. Criticized and castigated by many City residents for being outspoken, being offensive and more, she’s still around.
Give her credit for sticking to her goals and pursuing them throughout all her trials and tribulations. If she gives her political stands more thought, more consideration of how the affect people, impact the community and their value and show this side of her character, she may deserve more consideration as mayoralty material.
