NOV 11, 11am

At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Canada falls silent. On November 11, at 11 a.m., we stop to remember those who gave everything so that we could live in peace.

We honour the soldiers, sailors, and airmen and airwomen who fought in two world wars, in Korea, and in peacekeeping and combat missions around the globe. We honour the families who waited at home, and the many who never saw their loved ones return.

For two minutes, the noise of daily life gives way to stillness. Wreaths are laid, the Last Post sounds, and a nation bows its head in gratitude. Each red poppy pinned to a lapel is a quiet promise: we will not forget.

Today’s veterans and serving members carry that legacy forward, and they deserve our respect, our support, and our thanks, not only on this day but every day.

Lest we forget.
