POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT TRAINING
The essence of this training is that only positive reinforcements are used to train the puppy: treats, compliments, cheering. verbal bravos and the most important, a very cheery “YES” when he responds successfully.
The COMMANDS must be clear
It is crucial that commands are clear, accompanied with a hand gesture and done only once till he responds.
SIT
For example…SIT
Gesture: upward sweeping hand stopping at waist level;
Command: “Sit” …. said once.
Assistance: if he has never seen this command, you may need to assist him by gently pushing down on hiss rump until he SITS;
SUCCESS: when successful reward with a treat; repeat about 6 times a session

Repeat training sessions each day till he does it without fail. Alternate treat with “YES” so that he learns “YES” is a good thing too.
