PICKERING: A message from Mayor Keving Ashe

Celebrating Our Journey and Embracing the Future

As we wrap up 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on Pickering’s remarkable journey. Twenty-five years ago, we stepped boldly into the new millennium and became Canada’s newest city. Since then, we’ve transformed in extraordinary ways, not only in our skyline and infrastructure, but in our identity, our pride, and our shared sense of possibility.

This year was especially meaningful as we celebrated our 25th anniversary as a city. We unveiled our stunning waterfront boardwalk, the shimmering jewel of our community, and launched initiatives like Destination Pickering to strengthen our local economy, attract visitors, and support local businesses. These milestones reflect our shared commitment to building a city that is resilient and ready for the future.

Looking ahead to 2026, we remain focused on growth and opportunity. With our population projected to surpass 150,000 by 2036, Pickering continues to be one of Ontario’s fastest growing and most promising communities.

On behalf of City Council, I extend heartfelt wishes for a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year. Here’s to the next 25 years of progress, partnership, and possibility.

Here are a few highlights from our celebrations to ring in the holiday season with Winter Nights, City Lights and our annual Santa Claus Parade!
