I wrote recently that I thought Katharine Lake Berz’s column with two contrasting proponents of Alberta separation being interviewed. I expressed doubt this interview was actually done with the interviewees simultaneously. “Oh Szpin you luddite…it was done simultaneously but not in person but via ZOOM….Ms. Berz wrote me an explanation….

[ Recently, Katharine Lake Berz, a Toronto Star contributor, wrote a column that was supposedly a discussion about the Alberta separation movement. It is unlikely that this is an actual interview. Rather, and more likely, this is a ‘created interview’ based on interviews Berz conducted with the two protagonists. She likely interviewed each person and then distilled the results into the piece as if it were a single simultaneous interview.]

Quebec threatened the disintegration of Canadian unity. A close vote, but Quebec remained. Now Alberta’s on the toilet seat and they haven’t put it to a vote yet.

The Albertan separatists are looking to put the question to a provincial referendum.
