Are you ‘old’ or ‘OLD’?
‘OLD’ suggests someone not with it mentally, kind of lost, memory gone, awareness and mentality slipping.
Well, in this day and age, you can’t be like that. You have to be ‘old,’ not ‘OLD.’ There is a significant difference.
The ‘OLD’ is less capable, less aware, less able to explain or describe important situations. The POLICE can’t do it all. They can respond to all the emergency situations as quickly as they would like, nor as appropriately as they wish. But the ‘OLD’ person makes the situation worse: they can’t give factual details, they aren’t aware of all that has happened, they don’t see everything, they don’t hear everything.
Our society, the world around us, our communities are becoming more dynamic, more active and explosive increasingly. More crime is occuring, more violence, more use of guns, more anger and more rage.
As an old person there is little you can do about this. But you are far from useless. You have eyes, you have ears, you are aware and alert. Observe all that is happening around you and in the case of an emergency, be able to report factually with detailed information:
- what did you see exactly;
- what did you hear?
- Can you give a detailed description? Location? Nearest intersection?
The POLICE can only do so much but their effectiveness depends too on your detailed information. Don’t be an ‘OLD’ person, be an ‘old’ person aware, alert and assisting.
