A summary of the speech by Congressman Chris Murphy lambasting T**** for his incredible corruption.
______________
- Murphy’s thesis: Senator Murphy argues Trump has turned the White House into a round-the-clock corruption and self-enrichment operation, betting the public will grow numb if scandals come fast enough — and that he wants to document “500 days of corruption” before it becomes normalized.
Crypto enforcement gutted (April 2025)
- Acting AG Todd Blanche orders termination of Biden-era DOJ crypto investigations.
- Blanche is himself a major crypto investor, working for a president deeply invested in crypto.
- He also eliminates the entire DOJ team policing crypto fraud and money laundering.
Pay-to-play favors for donors
- Poultry giant Pilgrim’s Pride donated $5M to Trump’s inauguration, then got the salmonella-limit rule reversed.
- Nursing home executives paid for a private lunch, asked Trump to kill a staffing rule, and he ordered it done immediately.
- Big Tobacco donated $5M, got a lunch, and within a week the FDA reversed flavored-vape rules (the FDA commissioner resigned in protest).
- A bridge owner donated $1M, met Commerce Secretary Lutnik, and within hours Trump blocked a competing Detroit-Canada bridge.
Pardons for cash
- Paul Walczak: his mother paid $1M for a meeting; weeks later he got a full pardon erasing $4.4M he stole from employees.
- Changpeng Zhao: jailed for enabling terrorist/criminal financing, pardoned after helping launch Trump’s crypto business.
- Joseph Schwarz: nursing-home fraudster freed after paying $1M to Trump-connected lobbyists.
- April 10th: Trump publicly promised to “pardon everyone within 200 ft of the White House.”
Insider deals enriching Trump’s circle and family
- Stephen Miller held Palantir stock; ICE then gave Palantir a $30M no-bid surveillance contract.
- Donald Trump Jr. invested in Vulcan Elements; the Pentagon (reluctantly) gave it a $620M loan and stake, 10x-ing its value.
- Trump Jr. also profited from a DOJ move declaring a century-old mail-order-handgun ban unconstitutional.
Self-dealing by Trump himself
- Earned $57M selling crypto tokens to entities tied to North Korea, Iran, and Russia.
- Ordered Coast Guard facilities to stock his branded wine and cider.
- Awarded a $17M no-bid fountain contract (estimated true cost ~$3M) to a friend.
- Personally signed off on thousands of stock trades (e.g., bought Dell stock, publicly boosted it, then gave Dell a $10B defense contract).
Other schemes
- Corey Lewandowski allegedly ran mob-style extortion, demanding payments to protect DHS contracts.
- Investors likely with inside info bet ~$950M on falling oil prices hours before Trump’s Iran ceasefire announcement.
- Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s family road-trip show was bankrolled by companies (Toyota, Boeing, United) he regulates.
- Closing warning: Murphy frames these not as isolated scandals but a system, cautioning that once corruption becomes normal it becomes permanent — and calls on both parties and the public to treat it as the crisis it is.
