Maybe it’s just early in the election campaign but given the list of registered candidates…..

you would think more than ONE candidate would have knocked on my door. My constituency has the most candidates, seven, and only one has knocked on my door. I don’t know what to make of that. Summer doldrums, early in the campaign, a bunch of weak candidates, saving energy for a big thrust later. I dont know.
The one candidate who came was a real fount of information and campaign explanation. They clearly expanded on their posted promises, broadened the reason why a rookie has a chance and detailed why they were the candidate of choice.
Other candidates have not been here. One other maybe, as a campaign card was left behind, indicating that I likely missed the opportunity of meeting that candidate. My feeling about candidates who I have not met…’Who are they?” My candidate assessment gets a lighter consideration or a quicker conclusion when I don’t know the candidate, have never spoken with them and have unanswered questions about/for them.
Its early in the campaign and maybe when Labour Day hits us, the campaign will take on a different look. Right now it is gray and boring and information is as scarce as hen’s teeth as City Hall is not permitted publishing campaign material during the campaign. Candidates have to do it for themselves….and door-to-door is the biggest bang for the buck. It is the strongest strategy and likeliest to lead to success. So far, campaign is a big “pffft.“
