America, the beautiful, Believer in democracy, freedom and equality…just not for everyone.
Cuba once was dominated econcomically by U.S. Big Business, from sugar production facilities to banking and investment institutions. The nation was a playground for American businesses and American tourists while their government leader, Fulgenico Batista. For seven years, Batista knelt at the altar of American capitalism permitting the financial raping of Cuba by US capitalists.
Then, in 1956 a ragtag group of militant mercenaries led by Fidel Castra and including Che Guevara returned to Cuba to start their war of liberation. The revolutionaries ousted Batista and his cronies in 1959 but they failed in to completely overthrow the American economic bridle. Removed it domestically, but were unable to unleash it totally. American business retaliated for the loss of their Cuba cash cows with trade restrictions, economic barriers and commercial sanctions.
Today, Cuba suffers as the United States tries to bury the nation economically, tries to bring it to its knees by imposing embargoes, trade sanctions and blockades. American Manifest destiny at its finest. Take our financial tills and we’ll bury you, the American philosophy of democracy and liberty.
This is antihumanitarianism, American style. Leave our commercial enterprises as we have built them, regardless where or in violation of your sovereignty. We own it; we control it; dont touch it.The world looks on, does nothing and in many instances abides by America’s admonitions about trading or aiding Cuba.
Many nations abide by the American admonition to avoidtariffs and trade limitations that the American government imposes on transgressors. Some countries have given the US the ‘bird’ selling oil inspite of American declarations and warnings. Venezuela and Mexico continue shipping oil to Cuba. It is no deep thinking to understand why T**** invaded Venezuela and kidnapped their president, Maduro. The same move is not as easy to against President Sheinbaum of Mexico. Nevertheless, Cubanos days are numbered. The government has diminishing money. Trade revenues are non-existent. Tourism is almost completed ended. The Cubans have nothing left.
Humanitarianism be damned in this new world.
