Bessie Stergiou, candidate for Separate School Board Trustee, a very positive impression.
Many candidates talk a good game but few are convincing. Bessie Stergiou makes as impression.
This candidate projects conviction and authenticity. When she speaks, one hears the intelligence behind the words. To add to her authenticity, she is a mother to two challenged daughters of whom she is very proud. Her years of courageous work raising her girls brings her to the school board’s door. She knows the trials and tribulations her daughters have experienced and she brings the experience of that struggle to her ambition of becoming a school board trustee. Her experience reinforces the need for schools, school boards and teachers to be cognizant and more aware of the need to teaching all students with perseverence and steadfast dedication.
Stergiou is not criticizing the system but wants to have all the players recognize the need for continued hard work in the classroom, especially for students with special needs. These are student whose challenges go beyond the personal ones that they have. They experience negative social impact such as bullying and ostracization. School staff and school boards need to be aware of the responsibilities they have in their commitment to educating their students well. Bessie Stergiou wants to be the trustee to prod them and prompt them in carrying out their crucial roles with commitment, courage and steadfastness.
A very impressive candidate…worthy of your vote consideration.
