There are more than TWO dozen candidates running for office in the Pickering elections. Examining the list, one wonders who these people are, why are they running.
A number of these campaigners are in it for the exposure, maybe to advance their business, maybe to get exposure for other reasons. Some have registered as last minute candidates; some have no real campaign presentation.Some of these candidates maybe shouldn’t even be here but it’s their money, their time and their energy.
However, you as the voter have to discern the fly-by-nighters from the authentic campaigners. Read their material. Attend events where they will present. Hear what they have to say and how they say it. Listern to their promises. Hear their presentations and judge.
Judge and evaluate. Does the person sound authentic? Do they propose plausible policies? Do they have the presence of the office? Evaluate and assess the candidates. In many cases, if they didn’t knock on your door, they don’t deserve consideration. But that should not be the only criteria in your evaluation. Weigh what you see and hear with serious consideration as that person will be your municipal office holder for the next few years.
