The Pickering election campaign has many great candidates, some with business backgrounds, others with political experience, all dedicated and very ambitious to reach their goal of political office.
Some of these candidates are ‘first timers,’ entering the political arena for the first time but each of them is doing their very best to reach the brass ring. Some have moved up a few rungs up the political ladder, others, not familiar enough to the electorate, have yet to step up onto the first rung.
Familiarity is crucial
The rung of familiarity is the biggest step climbing this political campaign ladder and those who are not familiar to the electorate will not ascend higher until they change that.
STEPS TO SUCCESS (Climbing higher)
The unfamiliar candidates must make themselves known.
1, KNOCK ON EVERY DOOR wearing an identification, an id badge, a shirt with your name on it and greet the resident with a smile and a “Hello, I am ‘candidate name’ and I am running for your city council.”
2. 2. WEAR A NAME TAGE everywhere, meet and greets, coffee shops, everywhere so people get to know your name and face. You need to have your name burned into the memory of voters.
3. GET A MAGNETIC NAME TAG FROM RICHARD… ON SALE for just $10
For $10, Richard will make a personalized, professional looking ID badge for you. It can be customized but you really want something simple and direct.
To win the campaign, voters need to see and hear you. Your name has to be branded into their memories. You need voters to learn who you are and become familiar with your name. Knock on every door using your campaign workers to call you over for a personal meeting when possible. And always wear your identifying name, with a badge or a shirt. The badge is less “in your face”…and so I recommend it highly. It is a gentler way of making your name known to people you meet.
