Soccer is not my cup of tea. But this soccer match had me glued to my seat even as it went into extra time, and more extra time and MORE EXTRA TIME.
Spain had 2o shots on goal, Argentina, 0. The Argentinians had me thinking BLUE JAYS, no hitting. In their guess they didn’t even get up to bat. Spain deserved to win. I was very worried it was going to go to KICKING for the final score which could have been devastating for Argentina. Luckily, Spain scored in the 106th minute of extra time of the game and held out to the end of the game. Argentina played ONE MAN SHORT for much of the second half, for sure all the last quarter. So they had little change of outgunning the young Spanish squad. Argentina should be proud for the game they played, An older group of guys playing much younger players and then playing them short handed. The Argentinian goalie should be crowned as player of the game saving Argentina’s but over and over again.
Now, I humbly admit, soccer can be very exciting….but once in four years….Thanks, I’ll stick to boring old baseball.
