JAYS RECORD, STATS, COMMENTS

May 20 NY’s Schlittler was touted as the Amer League best. Yesavage proved that they labelled the wrong guy as the best.

May 19 NY led until the 9th. The BJ bats came out and got 1 run, another 1 run loss.

May 18 Yankees hitters came out to play. Jays hitters tried keeping up but reliever Rodriguez screwed the team up giving up big hits late in the game for the loss.

May 17 Gausman was ok but at least the batters came out to support himMay 15  May

May 15 Spencer Miles pitched and handle the role really well but the big thing is the Jays bats hit more than Detroit, 2-1 aint saying much. Clement was benched. He has committed his last year’s errors for the whole season in just one month this year. Something’s not right with that boy.

May 13 Cease pitched his best game this year but in the 9th inning, bullpen, Varland, Fluhardy let him down. Top of the 9th inning TB 3, Jays 1. Varsho, cold as an ice cube, stepped up to bat. Bases loaded. HOME RUN, A grand slam. Jays win, 5-3. Blue Jays happier today.

May 12 Corbin is not Jays #1 pitcher but you cannot blame the loss on him. It’s still the batting. Guerrero is really struggling but he’s not the only one. Varsho? Some bright spots: Panango and J. Sanchez…really making names for themselves but Panango is not on any permanent list…so when IL is healthier the poor kid’s going back to the minors. But they better hang on to his contract…he delivers, calmly, and quite  consistanly.

May 11 Gausman was inconsistent, shakey for all the 4 innings he pitched. Of course the batting was lousy once again.

May 10 Spenser Miles was the BJ starter. He was ok but evcen John Schneider was sure about him, pulling him after fewer than 80 ptches. But the A’s made silly mistakes and BJ batters showed up for a change.

May 9 Ya think the BJs bats finally came out, but no so fast. The A’s committed so many errors that resulted in BJs hits and runs and made fans think it was Triple A baseball. Not to totally diminish BJ hits as Clement, Sanchez and Venezuela hit homers which was a good sign. Springer was solid as lead off hitter. Guerrero was a contributor but the A’s were the tarnished error makes of the day.

May 8
Rather hohum game, neither team made it real basebal

May 6
BJs strand runners all over the place and it costs them the game

May 5
Gauzman started out like a ball of fire, and then pfft. Collapse and the bullpen was so so…Tyler Rogers was the low so so, Varland the good so so.

May 4
High school baseball with errors all over the place and Jays batters cannot make up for them.

May 3
Once again, the Jays’ bats are lukewarm until the very end. Then they seem to come out but it’s too late by then. This one was an iffy game from the start with Yesavage showing a lack of confidence in his outing and Fisher and Mantiply not able to close it out.

May 2
The Blue Jays take a long time to warm up, 8th inning, and then they strike bees, hornets even, 8 runs with big hits from Okamoto and Venezuela. The only crack in the ice is Springer getting hit smack on his fractured toe. He was wearing a customized guard but 100 mph hard does a great imitation of a tank shell. We’ll see tomorrow what the final report is on Springer, a very important lead off hitter for the team.

May 1
Patrick Corbin delivered a solid start but more importantly, some Jays bars came to life, especially Okamoto. Okamoto was troubled with adjusting to MLB pitcher’s velocity. A minor stance adjustment and boom, 2 home run in a game. Bravo…let’s hope he is adjusting comfortably to the culture shock.

Apr 30
Gausman started and was very inconsistent, giving up homers in the first few innings. The Blue Jays bats were better but also inconsistent across the squad. Worse, the defensive play was downright amateurish, with dropped pop-ups and errant throws. Terrible game to watch because of the fielding errors.

Apr 29
Jays bats finally came out, Springer returned, Vlady went 3-3, Venezuela hit a homer….so the Jays may finally be sprouting wings.

Apr. 28
Close game with Jays winning 3-0 but the bull pen scared the hell out of fans: Hoffman, Fluhardy, Rogers, Varland…gave fans palpitations but eventually did their jobs.
