June 9 Cease was outstanding, 29 whiffs, the kind of pitching the Jays need consistenlty. And the batters came our in the 9th inning just like in the movies or as they used to last year, saving games in the late innings. My guys, Jesus Sanchez and Panango, rookies who are here temporarily, will be tough to send back to the minors. Both are hitting when hits are badly needed. Winning baseball again!
JUNE 8 A computer crash…so a rebuild was in order, but with so much data, a full rebuild is too time consuming. Suffice to say, the above image should give visitors an idea of where the JAYS stand. Their big problems are twofold: INCONSISTENCES IN PITCHING and STRANDING RUNNERS. The batters need need to concentrate on connecting for a base hit instead of pipe freaming about a booming home run.
June 5 Disastrous…this game was a terrible outing for the Jays. Yesavage lost it fairly early and ended up with all kinds of relievers coming, That got so bad the Jays used the catcher, Hieneman, to pitch. Now that is desparation. Some sloppy defensive play, slop base running and the Jays got wolloped 13-3. A nightmare but dont expect much of a change as Scherzer is scheduled to pitch tonite…that will be a disaster and the Jays continue their piss poor batting leaving runners stranded almost every inning. The bats are not stone cold, just cold enough to strand runners over and over again. A terrible situation.
June 4 Schnieder’s juggling everything in an attempt to get runners home. He has shaken up both the pitchers lineup and the hitters but the poor guy cannot heat up the bats enough to get runners home. Runners were stranded in multiple innings, even bases loaded. We need an elexir to inject into the hitters so they bring runners home. Guerrero is back on the bat possibly because he is focussing on getting to 1st base, bringing in runs instead of getting the ball out of the park.
June 3 Gausman cant do all the work. The hitters gotta hit…end of story.
June 2 Comparing Jays to last year is futile and frustrating; too many injuries, too many inconsistencies. Atlanta is the best team in baseball. You can see why, hitters and pitchers. Steady, dependable and consistant. Makes other team’s winning very diffciult. But the Jays are like a candle flame, flickering bright one moment, diminishing dimly the next. They know it, GM Schneider knows it. The whole team and coaches know it and are trying to rectify things.
May 31 The Jays are sinking faster than bricks in water: disastrous pitchng from starters to relievers. Relievers, talk about a joke. Jays have some of the coldest relievers in the league. As for batters, they might as well be using the aforementioned bricks because they sure aren’t using wooden bats. The season is miserable and getting worse. The 17 game stint is over. The team can come home, recuperate and discuss strategies. What can they do about the crappy relief pitching but maybe more importantly, what can they do about the hitting and runner stranding ?
May 30 Pitching was catastrophic. Jays seemed to use everybody but Hoffman delivered snatched defeat from the jsws of victory. Agan, leaving runners on base was disastrous repetition for the jAYS.
May 29 Voth who? Voth was very inconsitant and if it weren’t for the BJs finally starting to hit, the game would have been a loss. HR by Okamoto and just arriving McAdoo brought them to within 1 of tying. Then Varsho got to 3rd base and Guerro got him home with a sac fly. Final score, 6-5 Jays who are now at WINS=LOSSES. First time since Apr 4.
May 28 Pithers duel, BJ Corbin won is a very close game. Clement seems to be the only BJ playing well consistanly. -> DETAILS
May 27 Okamoto hits HR, hopefully he’s turned the corner on his slump.
May 26 The bats came out but every inning runs left on base. My guy, Jesus Sanchez smacked a grand slam. Watch this guy, He may go places with that bat.
May 25 Usual BJ problem, leaving runners on base but compounded by errors and cold bats.
MAY 24 Dylan Cease started for the Blue Jays vs Pittsburg. He went 4.2 innings, gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits with 8 strikeouts, and took the loss in a 4-1 defeat. Jays could not get runners in when they were on base…a common occurence last few games.
May 23 Corbin successfully outdeuled Cy Young winning Pittsburgh picher Paul Skenes. Skenes must have hadan off day, lucky for BJs but some of the BJs came out to play…Sanchez, Panango, Springer…Guerrero’s still struggling…poor bugger.
May 22 Gausman delivers an OK performance, no more. BJ hitters, Springer, Clement, Panango hit but Guerro isn’t earning his money. He’s trying but without success at the moment. Pittsburgh defence was the pits, errors like amateurs but their pitching was very good.
May 21 Schneider used almost his entire bullpen, right arm pitcher, right arm batter, left to left and it worked superbly. Yankees got 3 hits, no runs and their biggest sluggers were blanked.
May 20 NY’s Schlittler was touted as the Amer League best. Yesavage proved that they labelled the wrong guy as the best.
May 19 NY led until the 9th. The BJ bats came out and got 1 run, another 1 run loss.
May 18 Yankees hitters came out to play. Jays hitters tried keeping up but reliever Rodriguez screwed the team up giving up big hits late in the game for the loss.
May 17 Gausman was ok but at least the batters came out to support himMay 15 May
May 15 Spencer Miles pitched and handle the role really well but the big thing is the Jays bats hit more than Detroit, 2-1 aint saying much. Clement was benched. He has committed his last year’s errors for the whole season in just one month this year. Something’s not right with that boy.
May 13 Cease pitched his best game this year but in the 9th inning, bullpen, Varland, Fluhardy let him down. Top of the 9th inning TB 3, Jays 1. Varsho, cold as an ice cube, stepped up to bat. Bases loaded. HOME RUN, A grand slam. Jays win, 5-3. Blue Jays happier today.
May 12 Corbin is not Jays #1 pitcher but you cannot blame the loss on him. It’s still the batting. Guerrero is really struggling but he’s not the only one. Varsho? Some bright spots: Panango and J. Sanchez…really making names for themselves but Panango is not on any permanent list…so when IL is healthier the poor kid’s going back to the minors. But they better hang on to his contract…he delivers, calmly, and quite consistanly.
May 11 Gausman was inconsistent, shakey for all the 4 innings he pitched. Of course the batting was lousy once again.
May 10 Spenser Miles was the BJ starter. He was ok but evcen John Schneider was sure about him, pulling him after fewer than 80 ptches. But the A’s made silly mistakes and BJ batters showed up for a change.
May 9 Ya think the BJs bats finally came out, but no so fast. The A’s committed so many errors that resulted in BJs hits and runs and made fans think it was Triple A baseball. Not to totally diminish BJ hits as Clement, Sanchez and Venezuela hit homers which was a good sign. Springer was solid as lead off hitter. Guerrero was a contributor but the A’s were the tarnished error makes of the day.
May 8
Rather hohum game, neither team made it real basebal
May 6
BJs strand runners all over the place and it costs them the game
May 5
Gauzman started out like a ball of fire, and then pfft. Collapse and the bullpen was so so…Tyler Rogers was the low so so, Varland the good so so.
May 4
High school baseball with errors all over the place and Jays batters cannot make up for them.
May 3
Once again, the Jays’ bats are lukewarm until the very end. Then they seem to come out but it’s too late by then. This one was an iffy game from the start with Yesavage showing a lack of confidence in his outing and Fisher and Mantiply not able to close it out.
May 2
The Blue Jays take a long time to warm up, 8th inning, and then they strike bees, hornets even, 8 runs with big hits from Okamoto and Venezuela. The only crack in the ice is Springer getting hit smack on his fractured toe. He was wearing a customized guard but 100 mph hard does a great imitation of a tank shell. We’ll see tomorrow what the final report is on Springer, a very important lead off hitter for the team.
May 1
Patrick Corbin delivered a solid start but more importantly, some Jays bars came to life, especially Okamoto. Okamoto was troubled with adjusting to MLB pitcher’s velocity. A minor stance adjustment and boom, 2 home run in a game. Bravo…let’s hope he is adjusting comfortably to the culture shock.
Apr 30
Gausman started and was very inconsistent, giving up homers in the first few innings. The Blue Jays bats were better but also inconsistent across the squad. Worse, the defensive play was downright amateurish, with dropped pop-ups and errant throws. Terrible game to watch because of the fielding errors.
Apr 29
Jays bats finally came out, Springer returned, Vlady went 3-3, Venezuela hit a homer….so the Jays may finally be sprouting wings.
Apr. 28
Close game with Jays winning 3-0 but the bull pen scared the hell out of fans: Hoffman, Fluhardy, Rogers, Varland…gave fans palpitations but eventually did their jobs.
