MICO update 9.11.26

Last month we called Mico the canine version of the Energizer Bunny, and nothing has changed. Even after a long 3 to 4 km walk, he comes home racing from room to room looking for his next adventure.

Mico is also proving himself to be a true terrier: bright, determined, and incredibly stubborn. He learns new commands after only a few repetitions, but choosing to obey them is another matter. Chewing, nibbling, and selective hearing remain his primary work. We suspect time and maturity will help.

He certainly knows his name. Say “Mico” and he immediately looks your way. Unfortunately, “Mico, come” does not get the desired consistent response. But he does come…eventually. Sometimes instantly, more often than not, after some thought. A squeaky toy and fake knock on the door brings instant response bringing him running every time.

Still, despite his stubborn streak, Mico fills the house with energy and joy. When gone for a few minutes, he greets us as though we have been away for months and every trip outdoors becomes a celebration.

One pleasant surprise is grooming time. At six months old, Mico is gradually learning to relax on the grooming table. What was once a bouncing, restless session is becoming a calmer time with each brushing.

In short, Mico is everything a young puppy should be: energetic, entertaining, affectionate, and intelligent. His strong personality keeps us on our toes, but every day he reminds us of the joy a puppy can bring to a home, to a family.
