News and Announcements
On behalf of the City of Pickering and all Members of Council, I extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali and Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto.
As a mark of respect and remembrance, flags at City facilities will fly at half-mast in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
Every line-of-duty death is a profound loss. To lose two officers in Ontario within such a short span is especially devastating. These tragedies are a painful reminder of the risks police officers face each day as they work to protect our communities and respond in moments of danger, uncertainty, and crisis.
Our thoughts are with the Ontario Provincial Police, the Toronto Police Service, and the broader policing community as they grieve. We also extend our heartfelt support to the officers, first responders, dispatchers, and public safety partners who continue to serve with courage and professionalism during an incredibly difficult time.
We remain committed to building a safe, caring, and connected community in Pickering and beyond. That commitment includes standing with those who dedicate their lives to the safety and well-being of others, and honouring the service and sacrifice of those who do not return home.
May Constable Bali and Constable Pinizzotto be remembered as heroes who served with courage and an unwavering commitment to public safety. We hold their families, colleagues, and all who loved them in our hearts during this time of immense sorrow.
