Ya ever wonder….
We get these warning alerts from the City of Pickering. What are supposed to do about them?
Evacuate? How? Where? In what way? In what direction? Meanwhile, just heed the alarm and do what?
At the very least, the City should be telling citizens to hunker down in their own basements, if they have such. Otherwise, citizens are at a total loss as to what they should do in an emergency.
Just knowing what the City advises might be somewhat assuring but not knowing anything is playing chicken little, the sky is falling, the sky is falling……..so what?
Shouldn’t citizens be given some sort of advice on what to do in case of an emergency. Great that the city does these alert tests periodically but for what reason? What purpose? Do they follow them up in any meaningful way? Did the city contact your home and ask if you heard the alert?
This whole alert system feels like smoke and mirrors rather than any kind of informed reassurance from the municipal authorities. Once again, “political hot air!”
