Marit Stiles, provincial NDP leaders claims Dog Ford is corrupt. Can’t this label be applied to every politician to some extent, some worse than others?
Stiles was ejected from the legislative chamber for her declaration but before I throw support behind her, I ask, “Marit, fill in some details please. Where is the corruption? Do you have some credible evidence of it?” You cannot just make unsubstantiated claims like that.
I am not a Dog Ford supporter for many reasons but I cannot just jump on your band wagon without more concrete material than you presently claim.

I wanted to write it down too in an email. So yes…I got kicked out of the legislative chamber today for calling Doug Ford corrupt. I stand by it. Of course I do.
But I also wanted to say that this isn’t about me. It’s about the real cost of Doug Ford’s corruption. It’s about the working dad who has to eat a little less so his kid can eat a little more. It’s about the student graduating with a mountain of debt and no job prospects. It’s about the grandma watching the news everyday, worried sick about what the future holds for her grandkids. It’s about the autoworkers who told me just a few weeks ago that they’re turning their action centre into a foodbank. I mean can you believe that!?
Doug Ford’s corruption has a real cost. A real cost. And I could get all sentimental and say I don’t know why he – and his government – act the way they do. But I do know why. I think you know why too. Because for them, for politicians like Doug Ford, it’s always been just about themselves. About the people they know. They help the people who help them. For these politicians, that’s all power means to them. That’s it.
So yeah, I called it corrupt. And look, I’m gonna get up tomorrow and the day after and do it all over again. And I won’t stop until that dad doesn’t have to skip a meal. Until all students have a job waiting for them when they graduate. Until no grandma has to stay up late at night worrying about her grandkids. Until foodbanks are safety nets and not lifelines. Until we have a government that truly makes lives better for working people.
That’s what this fight means to me. And I’m gonna keep fighting.
Marit
