State of the Union Address

President T****

Address to a Joint Session of Congress 2.24.26

Opening Remarks

Speaker Johnson, Vice President Vance, First Lady of the United States, Second Lady of the United States, members of Congress and my fellow Americans: our nation is back — bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever before.

Less than five months from now, our country will celebrate an epic milestone in American history: the 250th anniversary of our glorious American independence. This July 4th, we will mark two and a half centuries of liberty and triumph, progress and freedom in the most incredible and exceptional nation ever to exist on the face of the earth. This is the golden age of America.

A Turnaround for the Ages

One year ago, I inherited a nation in crisis — stagnant economy, record inflation, an open border, declining military recruitment, rampant crime, and chaos around the world. Tonight, after just one year, I can report a transformation like no one has ever seen before.

Border Security

  • In the past nine months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States.
  • We now have the strongest and most secure border in American history.
  • Deadly fentanyl crossing our border is down a record 56% in one year.
  • The murder rate saw its single largest decline in recorded history — the lowest number in over 125 years.
  • People who love our country and will work hard will always be welcome to come in legally.

Economic Achievements

Inflation and Prices

  • Core inflation driven to its lowest level in more than five years.
  • In the last three months of 2025, inflation was down to 1.7%.
  • Gasoline is now below $2.30 per gallon in most states — as low as $1.85 in Iowa.
  • The annual cost of a typical new mortgage is down almost $5,000 since taking office.
  • Prices of eggs, chicken, butter, fruit, hotels, automobiles, and rent are all lower.

Growth and Investment

  • The stock market has set 53 all-time record highs since the election.
  • The Dow Jones broke 50,000 — four years ahead of schedule.
  • The S&P hit 7,000 ahead of projections.
  • More than $18 trillion in investment commitments secured in 12 months, compared to under $1 trillion in the previous four years.
  • 70,000 new construction jobs added in a short period.
  • American oil production up by more than 600,000 barrels per day.
  • American natural gas production at an all-time high.
  • More Americans are working today than at any time in history — 100% of jobs created in the private sector.
  • 4 million Americans lifted off food stamps — a record.
  • Record number of job-killing regulations cut.

Tax Cuts and Financial Relief

The Big Beautiful Bill delivered the largest tax cuts in American history. Key provisions include:

  • No tax on tips.
  • No tax on overtime.
  • No tax on Social Security for seniors.
  • Interest on auto loans made tax deductible — for cars made in America.
  • Expanded Child Tax Credit.

These measures mean that a family like the Hemhausers — a waitress and heavy equipment operator — will take home more than $5,000 extra a year, cutting their tax bill in more than half.

Trump Accounts for Children

New tax-free investment accounts for every American child. Michael and Susan Dell have donated $6.25 billion to fund accounts for 25 million American children. With modest additional contributions, these accounts could grow to over $100,000 by the time a child turns 18. Learn more at trumpaccounts.gov.

Trade and Tariffs

Tariffs have been a primary driver of America’s economic turnaround. Countries that had been taking advantage of the United States for decades are now paying hundreds of billions of dollars. Despite a recent Supreme Court ruling, tariff agreements will remain in place under alternative legal statutes, and Congressional action will not be necessary.

As tariff revenue grows, it is envisioned that it will progressively replace the income tax system, lifting a great financial burden from hardworking Americans — as it did historically.

Healthcare and Prescription Drugs

Health Insurance Reform

The Affordable Care Act enriched big insurance companies at the expense of patients. The proposed new health care plan would stop payments to large insurance companies and redirect that money directly to the people — allowing Americans to choose their own health care at lower cost. Maximum price transparency is also required.

Prescription Drug Prices

Under newly enacted Most Favored Nation agreements, Americans — who have historically paid the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs — will now pay the lowest. Price reductions of 300–600% are available now at trumprx.gov. Congress is being called on to codify this program into permanent law.

Energy and Utility Bills

A new Ratepayer Protection Pledge has been negotiated with major technology companies, requiring them to generate their own power for AI data centers — ensuring no increases in electricity bills for consumers, and potentially reducing them.

Housing and Home Ownership

An executive order has been signed banning large Wall Street investment firms from buying up thousands of single-family homes. Congress is being asked to make this ban permanent — keeping homes available for families, not corporations.

Retirement Security

  • Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will always be protected.
  • The typical 401(k) balance is up at least $30,000 since taking office.
  • A new initiative will give workers without employer retirement plans access to the same type of retirement plan offered to federal workers, with matching contributions of up to $1,000 per year.
  • Congress is called on to pass the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay.

Immigration and Public Safety

Border and Immigration Policy

After years of open borders allowing millions of illegal aliens to enter — including those with criminal records — the administration has achieved the most secure border in American history. Congress is urged to:

  • Fully fund the Department of Homeland Security and border security.
  • End sanctuary cities that shield criminals from deportation.
  • Enact serious penalties for officials who block removal of criminal aliens.
  • Pass the Safe America Act requiring voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote.
  • Pass the Dalilah Law — barring any state from granting commercial driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

Crime and Law Enforcement

National Guard and federal law enforcement have been deployed to restore order in America’s most dangerous cities, including Memphis, New Orleans, and Washington D.C. Crime in Washington D.C. is now at its lowest level ever recorded, with murders in January down close to 100% year-on-year. Congress is called on to pass tough legislation ensuring violent repeat offenders are imprisoned and remain so.

Fraud and Corruption

An official war on fraud is being led by Vice President JD Vance, targeting widespread taxpayer fraud — with examples in Minnesota and several other states where billions of dollars have been plundered. Recovering this money could balance the federal budget.

Social Policy

Child Protection and Parental Rights

No state should be permitted to socially transition a child to a new gender against the will of parents. Cases where children have been separated from parents for refusing to affirm a gender transition highlight the need to ban such practices immediately.

Faith and Religion

There has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, and belief in God during this administration — especially among young people. America must reaffirm itself as one nation under God, and political violence of any kind must be totally rejected.

First Lady’s Initiatives

  • Championed AI legislation.
  • Advanced a landmark executive order on foster care.
  • Helped secure $30 million to launch the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence initiative.
  • Led the Presidential Challenge — preparing America’s next generation to succeed.

National Security and Foreign Policy

Ending Wars and Achieving Peace

In the first ten months, eight international conflicts were resolved or significantly de-escalated:

  • Cambodia and Thailand.
  • Pakistan and India (avoiding a potential nuclear conflict threatening 35 million lives).
  • Kosovo and Serbia.
  • Israel and Iran.
  • Egypt and Ethiopia.
  • Armenia and Azerbaijan.
  • The Congo and Rwanda.
  • The Gaza conflict, proceeding at a very low level toward resolution.

Under the Gaza ceasefire, every single hostage — both living and dead — has been returned home. Efforts continue to end the war in Ukraine, where 25,000 soldiers are dying every month.

Iran and Nuclear Threats

In Operation Midnight Hammer, the United States military obliterated Iran’s nuclear weapons program on Iranian soil. Iran has been warned against rebuilding its nuclear capabilities. The preference is diplomacy, but the world’s No. 1 sponsor of terror will never be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Military Strength

  • A record military budget of over one trillion dollars is being invested in the Armed Forces.
  • NATO allies have agreed to pay 5% of GDP for military defense — up from a largely unpaid 2%.
  • Every service member received a $1,776 warrior dividend.
  • Every branch of the Armed Forces is setting recruitment records.

Western Hemisphere Security

Drug cartels have been designated as foreign terrorist organizations and fentanyl declared a weapon of mass destruction. In January, a landmark military operation ended the reign of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, bringing him to face American justice and beginning a new era of cooperation with Venezuela’s new leadership.

Honouring American Heroes

This address was marked by the recognition of remarkable Americans:

  • Buddy Taggart — World War II veteran, Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient, who liberated one of the largest internment camps in the Philippines. Celebrating his 100th birthday this July 4th.
  • Scott Ruskin — Coast Guard rescue swimmer who saved 165 lives in the Texas flood disaster of July 4th, awarded the Legion of Merit for extraordinary heroism.
  • Milly Cate McClymond — 11-year-old survivor of the Texas floods, reunited with her rescuer.
  • Sarah Beckstrom — National Guard Specialist who died in service, protecting the Capitol.
  • Andrew Wolfe — Staff Sergeant, shot defending the Capitol, awarded the Purple Heart on a miraculous path to recovery.
  • Eric Slover — Chief Warrant Officer 5, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for piloting a helicopter under enemy fire during the Venezuela operation, sustaining four gunshot wounds.
  • Royce Williams — Navy Captain, 100 years old, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for a legendary 1952 dogfight in Korea in which he shot down four Soviet jets while absorbing 263 bullets.
  • The Men’s Gold Medal US Olympic Hockey Team — Connor Hellebuyck, goalkeeper, to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Closing Remarks: America’s Golden Age

Two hundred and fifty years is a long time in the life of a nation — yet a mere moment in the eye of history. From 13 humble colonies, Americans built the strongest, wealthiest, and most powerful nation in all of history. We mastered the world’s mightiest industries, shattered history’s monstrous tyrannies, and liberated millions from the chains of fascism, communism, oppression, and terror.

The revolution that began in 1776 has not ended. The flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot. Our future will be bigger, better, brighter, bolder, and more glorious than ever before.

“God bless you and God bless America.”
