The Camel Club
David Baldacci
Synopsis
Existing at the fringes of Washington D.C., the Club consists of four eccentric members. Led by a mysterious man known as “Oliver Stone,” there’s also Library of Congress reference expert Caleb Shaw, computer genius Milton Farb, and laborer Reuben Rhodes. They study conspiracy theories, current events, and the machinations of government in an attempt to discover the “truth” behind the country’s actions.
Their efforts bear little fruit — until the group witnesses a shocking murder, and becomes embroiled in an astounding, far-reaching conspiracy. Now the Club must join forces with a fifth person, a Secret Service agent, to confront one of the most chilling spectacles ever to take place on American soil — an event that may trigger the ultimate war between two different worlds. All that stands in the way of this apocalypse is five unexpected heroes.

Each of Baldacci’s books that star the Camel Club is a very readable and entertaining read if you like American politics and thriller stories. The plots are intricate. The suspense endless. The guessing game of what will happen next never stops. These are polished stories that will have you turning the pages with curiosity and anticipation.
The star of each Camel Club story is an American marine veteran using the name Oliver Stone. He’s an older Clint Eastwood ‘Dirty Hairy’ – 007 blend. Not too unrealistic, believable. Though there is physical action at times, it is such that one can accept it as believable.
The more important thing about the book is that it is Baldacci written. Professional, polished and very engaging.
Yes, these books might be labeled ‘Adult comic books’ but they are well written, well developed stories that will entertain most readers.
