WAYS TO VOTE

Vote early online. It’s quick and convenient!

Use a computer, tablet, or smartphone to cast your ballot from home or anywhere with internet access.

Internet voting runs from October 19 at 10 a.m. to October 26 at 8 p.m.

To vote online, you’ll need your Voter Information Package and your full date of birth.

Want to vote in person?

Paper ballots are available on Election Day only, Monday, October 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Bring identification showing your name and qualifying Pickering address. Visit www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/130304 for the full list of acceptable identification.

Do you live in a Retirement Home or Long-Term Care Home?

The City is required under the Municipal Elections Act to visit certain designated facilities on Election Day. Ask your facility administrator whether your residence is included.

WHY YOUR VOTE MATTERS

Your vote helps shape Pickering.

Municipal decisions affect your daily life – from roads, parks, recreation, and libraries to planning, fire services, and local by-laws.

By voting, you help choose the representatives who will shape our community’s services, priorities, and future.

WHO CAN VOTE?

On Election Day, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • a Canadian citizen;
  • a resident of Pickering or the owner or tenant of land in Pickering, or the spouse of such owner or tenant; and,
  • not otherwise prohibited by law from voting.

Starting September 1, confirm your information on the Voters’ List at pickering.ca/voterslist.

✔ Confirm your ward

Visit pickering.ca/wards to find your ward and learn who you will be voting for.

✔ Look for your Voter Information Package

If you are on the Voters’ List, your Voter Information Package (VIP) will arrive in your mailbox in early October. If you don’t receive your VIP, visit a Revision Centre or contact the City.

✔ Keep your credentials safe

Your voting credentials provide access to your ballot. Store them securely and do not share them with anyone.

UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION ON THE VOTERS’ LIST

If your name, address, school support, or other information needs to be added or updated, you must complete an application to amend the Voters’ List.

Online: Starting September 1, complete an application online and upload acceptable identification. Online applications are available until October 23 at 4 p.m.

Revision Centres: Visit one of the following locations between September 1 and October 23 during regular business hours:

  • Central Library, One The Esplanade
  • George Ashe Library, 470 Kingston Road
  • Greenwood Heritage Library, 2365 Sixth Concession Road
  • City Hall, City Clerk’s Office, One The Esplanade (available until 8 p.m. on Election Day)

During the Voting Period: Visit a designated Voter Assistance Centre or a Voting Location. Locations and hours of operation are listed by the City of Pickering.

FIND YOUR WARD

Pickering’s ward boundaries have changed since the last election! Your ward determines which local candidates appear on your ballot.

Watch your mailbox: If your ward has changed, you will receive a letter in September showing your previous ward and your new ward.

YOUR VOTER INFORMATION PACKAGE (VIP)

If you are on the Voters’ List, watch your mailbox in early October for your Voter Information Package.

  • Your online voting credentials
  • How and when to vote
  • Voter Assistance Centre/Voting Location hours and locations

The Voter PIN is only for the person named on the Package. Once the ballot is submitted, the PIN cannot be used again.

Lost or misplaced your VIP?

Visit a Revision Centre, a Voter Assistance Centre (VAC), or a Voting Location (VL) to receive a new VIP.

ACCESSIBILITY

Accessible voting tools and services are available to ensure every eligible elector is able to participate.

  • Internet Voting allows eligible electors to vote from home or anywhere the internet is available using a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliant screen readers and ballot navigation tools support accessible online voting.
  • On Election Day, assistive voting technology and tools will be available to help electors cast their paper ballot using Vote Tabulators at all Voting Locations.
