Ranking the placement of the councillor candidates panel members is a subjective exercise that depends on the bias and opinions held by the person being surveyed. As inaccurate and rough any results may be, it is interesting to hear the surveyed person’s rationale for their ranking.
Criteria considered
Those surveyed were asked to explain the criteria they used:
- validity of respondent’s reply;
- gender and ethnicity neutrality;
- presentation, projection and presence;
- professional appearance.
Based on these criteria, the ranking was very close. In fact a tie for first place in more than one survey.
Rather than show the ranking results, you are offered a list of the criteria for ranking your own candidacy placement.
- How well does the candidate know the issues?
- Where does the candidate stand on the big issues of taxes, security & safety, and growth of the City?
- How plausible are the respondent’s solutions?
- What kind of presence does the candidate project?
- How publicly available is the candidate?
- What do you really know about the candidate as a possible councillor?
- Have you found learning about your candidate easy?
These are important considerations to make before Election day. You are voting for the next person to govern you city. It should be a educated voted.
